OMG Intake call with nurse

Wow... Nurse Judy is one cheerful lady... OMG... I couldn't turn my phone down enough!
But that is good.

We reviewed my paperwork I filled out the other day. She asked me like 20 times if I had ever had cancer. I think she kept forgetting she asked. But I got all my questions answered.

Perfectly normal for me to have my first appt at 13 weeks 2 days, Dr C probably had a full schedule but it is just a basic appt and will get to hear baby penguin on the doppler which they do at every appt.

I had a list of things to ask and had a chance and she listened to all my concerns. Made me feel like she cared. Except about the fact I think I am getting a UTI possibly. Although she did tell me to keep an eye on it and if anything changed to call the office and a nurse would call me back to discuss.

She also gave me a couple suggestions about helping my dizziness/motion sickness/nausea, so we need to see if they help.

She said me being almost 37 was no big deal. Probably just a couple more monitoring appts way later on but for now it is business as usual. So that is a relief!

Next we moved onto Genetic testing... what was out there, why to have/not have it. So basically she said if it isn't going to change our mind on the pregnancy that there is no reason to do it. Well My opinion is that even though it is not going to change my mind on the pregnancy it will help me to prepare in case there is something we need to be concerned about.

So our options go from just bloodwork all the way up to having an amnio done.
Came home and opened the book from them to PAGE 117 as Nurse J told me 20 times I needed to read. There was a little chart about NT scans. I pulled out the pamphlet on 1st tri screening and pulled up the website for the MaterniT21 test which is a new test that is available.

By the time I had all that organized E was home. So I told him I had my call with the nurse today and we need to decide if we want to do genetic testing because she needs to know sooner rather than later.
We decided to do the MaterniT21 test because it is showing 99.9% accuracy for Down syndrome testing and some of the common Trisomys. E kept going,'this is scary stuff. What can they do if something comes up.' Well they can't do anything but we can try to prepare for it. We also decided we would go ahead and do the NT Scan and blood work. Just to ease our minds. I am sure the nurse will have something to say about wanting to do both but after what we went through to get pregnant I want to ease my mind, and/or be able to prepare.

Tomorrow I have to call the insurance to make sure the NT stuff is covered, which since I am 36 (AMA) it should be because of the increased risk for Downs. I also need to call the lab that does the MaterniT21 and see how much, from what I am hearing it is $200. Then I have to call Nurse J back and she will get me set up for everything! I am nervous but excited.

8 weeks

How far along: 8 weeks
How big is baby:  Raspberry
Total weight change:  Yesterday I was down 3 I did not get on the scale today
Symptoms: So very tired. And I feel like crud most of the time. Like my motion sickness is in full force 24/7 slightly dizzy and nausea all the time. I read somewhere that women with really bad motion sickness sometimes have really bad morning sickness. Yay for me!
I am wondering if some of my dizziness/motion sickness is related to the change in my contact prescription. I am going to go back to my old prescription for a couple days and see what happens. The eye dr was "trying something new" yay me!
Maternity clothes: Not yet.
Stretch marks: only what I started with
Sleep: I am so tired yet cannot fall asleep but once I am asleep I am out!
Best moment of this week: hearing the heartbeat. OMG that sound I want to hear it every day
Miss anything: Being able to take something for my stuffy head/drainage
Movement: No way
Food cravings: still raspberries, freah, jam, yogurt doesn't matter!
Gender: No clue but I think girl
Labor signs: no way again
Belly button in or out: innie
Looking forward to: talking to my nurse on wednesday to find out if my first OB appt is scheduled right and for bloodwork results
Milestones: graduating from the RE!

Graduation day..... from the RE that is!

I took a half day off work so I could go fill out new patient paperwork at the OBs office, they were clueless again about when/how to schedule me. And took the whole time I will doing paperwork to fill it out (and called me up there twice to ask me questions).
Anyway I will get a call next Wednesday from the nurse to discuss all my paperwork etc. Which is fine except they asked for no input from my and it is at 9:30 AM on a Wednesday. So need to figure out how I can have that phone call while I am at work!
And my first OB appt is 3/4 at 9:30 AM. That seems to be their favorite time or something. I will by 13 weeks and a few days at that point. I plan on asking the nurse if that seems right or if it should be earlier. I guess I would feel more comfortable telling my parents Valentines weekend if I had another appt before then. But oh wells!

Next up was meeting hubster at the RE to have our 7 week US. Everyone must have had today off (except me) because the lot was full and I had to circle 3 times to find a spot. Anyway we got called back by the medical assistant who did most of my blood work and she just smiled and asked how I was. I said good but hopefully better in a bit!
Got in the room and hubs was in shock as I dropped trou and hopped on the table with my sheet. I told him this is the usual! (see what he gets for not coming to any appts!)
Dr M came in (she did almost all of my USs for my IVF cycle and most of my IUI cycles as well) She turned to me and told me how excited the whole office was that I was pregnant (I seriously had seen almost the whole office!)

Our Penguin
So Hubs came up by my head and as soon as they put in the wand she was like, look there it is and I see a flickering heart. I think I got the biggest smile on my face that seriously has not left all day!
She took her couple measurements and I was measuring 7 weeks and I am 7 weeks 1 day so that was perfect. Penguin is almost 9 mm. Then she turned on the sound so we could hear the heart. OMG that sound.... Hubs heard it and goes "OMG it is real" It is like he forgot that there is a reason for me feeling so crappy! She said it was a perfect heartbeat of 128 BPM, exactly what they were looking for. She took other measurements of my ovaries etc and then was like I just need to double check there is only one in there. And there is only one!

Heartbeat
Next up she was printing the pics for their file and then printed off a 4 for me!
On the way out I saw both of the medical assistants and they were both like that is a huge smile! Congrats!
And then the receptionist looked at me and goes you are all set! Happy graduation, now let me see pictures!

Of course when Dr M asked me if I had any questions I totally forgot to ask her about the Progesterone and Estrogen I am still on. I know they said until 10 weeks, but I wanted to double check and then do I just stop them cold turkey as soon as I start week 10? or at the end of week 10? So I am going to leave a voicemail in the morning to see if one of the nurses or Dr M can call me and tell me what to do.

What a great morning! too bad I had to go to work after!

I take it ALLLLLL back!

So Nurse J just called me from the OB's office. OMG she is so sweet and nice! She talked me through everything and reviewed my online file with all my meds etc and was like OMG there are a lot of meds listed. So I told her most were from the IVF and I am only on 4 things right now. So that relieved her quite a bit!

We had a long convo about why I am on Synthroid but am not diagnosed with a thyroid problem etc. And then I asked her if there was any possibility of picking up the paperwork to fill out of coming in earlier than 9 on Monday and she went to the desk and talked to them and there is someone there at 8 on Monday so I can do the paperwork (and they will give me a bunch of paperwork and a book to take home) and then go to the lab for a urine test and lots of blood work.

Then she will call me back a few days later to review all the paperwork.

And She also said there would be no problem at all to get me in to see the Dr I wanted to see. But that maybe once or twice I would have to see one of the other 2 doctors that are in the office but that they all discuss all patients so they know what is going on.

I feel soooo much better! Yay!

WTF OB office

So I finally got around to calling the OB office I want to go to.
I get the receptionist who is all excited congratulating me, which was nice but she was a little too excited to for me!

She asks which Dr I want to see so I tell her the name of the one that really stuck out to me while reviewing online profiles. Well that OB is only there a half day on Tuesdays (of course) and is really hard to get in to see. Grr... So I told her I guess it doesn't really matter does it for my first appt?

Then she asks the first day of my last period. So I tell her it was IVF and I did my transfer on 12/20. And she told me she had no idea how to even code that or how to figure out a due date for me. So I told her I was due 9/7, she told me she was going to leave it as a question mark. Really? why can't you believe me or put it in as an estimate?

Then asked me if I have thyroid issues so I had to explain how for IF treatments my thyroid was borderline high for my RE and I was put on synthroid to bring it down before going through treatment. Again... Well I don't know how to put that in your file.
Ummmm just make a note that I was put on synthroid to go through IF treatments.

Not that it all matters anyway because she has to forward all my info to a nurse for review before they will do anything. But I can feel free to come in Monday for blood work and to fill out my new patient packet and then they will schedule me. Now I have to re-review the OBs in that office and pick an alternate.

And now I need to take a half day off work on monday because I have to be there between 9 and 4 for all of this. And my US with the RE is at 1050. So I can go right at 9 and do paperwork/blood work and then as long as I am on the road by 1020 make it to my RE for my US. Maybe I can just pick up the paperwork and bring it back, but she made it sound like I needed to do it there!

Holy Boobs!

( . )( . ) holy moly... I hadn't noticed a change until yesterday. And by the time I got home from work my cups runneth over.
Now I have never been officially fitted but have been wearing a 38DD decently comfortably for a while. (lefty is almost half a cup size bigger than righty normally) Yesterday and today that DD is not holding them in! I am gonna have to dig out some of my less structured DDs and see if that can contain them for a while longer!

So tired, I can barely get out of bed in the morning, i could fall asleep around 8 on the couch every night but make it til 10. Acid reflux has been better the last couple days so that is a good thing. Morning nausea is a little worse but I don't know if that is because I am stuffy and have drainage.

My patience level at work has been horrible. Every little thing irritates me. It normally does but I can usually tollerate it. I cannot stand the stupid lately. I am hoping I can quit once baby comes and then take my time finding something else (or work part time/temp work) I have wanted to leave for a while but there is nothing out there that I am interested in or I am over qualified for or it is so far away I don't want to make the drive.

4 am why you suck so bad?

Oh man... the last 2 mornings at 4am I have woken up wishing I would just die!

I have been dizzy and lightheaded and so nauseous I thought I would have to run to the bathroom but worried that if that happened I would be so dizzy I would fall and crack my head on the dresser or something. It lasts about a half hour until I can fall back asleep. This morning it was accompanied by bad pains/cramps near my left ovary and then I woke up at 6 again with the same cramps and nausea.

2 days of that is enough... You hear me baby/hormones?????? enough already!

Isn't it bad enough that the majority of the day I have acid reflux? am super tired? and nauseous if I don't eat (which by the way in the morning when I take my thyroid medicine and have to wait an hour to eat is not fun)

This is not going to be fun if this keeps up.
