Next steps appointment :(

IUI 4 was a bust so I scheduled an appt to see Dr S to see what she thinks we should do next.
Of course I was on CD5 when I went in so nothing was going to be able to happen and we would have to take a cycle off but I am kind of okay with that!

She was happy with the follies I was producing with both Clomid and Femara and also said that our counts had been consistently good from E so she was kind of bummed that it hadn't happened yet. She was also concerned because of our age we really shouldn't be waiting around for it to happen.

Our options per her were to move on to IVF, and she talked me through the whole process, which as of yet I am unsure I am ready to move onto. Or we could try to do another IUI cycle or two with injectibles. Since they can control the hormones a little better and get a better quality egg/eggs out of the cycle. The chance of multiples is a little higher but not by much.

She asked which I thought I would like to do and I told her I was leaning toward trying another IUI because I wasn't ready to commit to IVF at that point. She seemed okay with that but seemed like she didn't want us to wait too much longer before moving on.

So the nurse comes in and walks me through everything I need to do before my next cycle starts, which included calling the insurance to make sure I was covered and that the meds would be covered. So I put it off a day or two and finally called the insurance company. I started giving the girl the procedure codes and she was quiet for a minute and then asked if it all the appointments were related to infertility treatment and I told her yes. She was quiet again for a minute and then said "I am so sorry to have to tell you that you have already met your lifetime max of $5,000 for infertility treatments" I didn't know how to respond. She apologized again and then told me that means the meds wouldn't be covered either. She kept saying sorry. I had a feeling since our previous couple IUIs had been covered and I didn't know how much coverage we had.

So I started to call pharmacies and they all said they didn't want to tell me how much the meds would be, dang they are expensive! But Freedom Pharmacy had the cheapest prices by far. So I called back to the RE office and asked them if they could call me in a lower dose to save money since I would be out of pocket and she told me that wouldn't be a problem she would call in the 450IU instead of 900IU so $444 instead of $888.

So that night I had to tell E that this cycle wouldn't be covered. So he asked how much it would cost. My estimate based on the printouts I had gotten was showing including meds it would be anywhere from $4000 to $8000 depending on how many U/Ss and blooddraws. I think he was going to crap his pants. I told him that it would be cheaper than IVF and we would try it once and see. He told me he just wished there was a guarantee that if we spent that much money we would get a baby. I agree but what are we going to do

3rd Medicated cycle.... Clomid

Wednesday March 6, 2013
This cycle is Clomid. I took 50mgs for days 3-7. Now on day 11 with lots of twinges and pinches.
No bad headaches which has been super nice.
On Saturday i hav emy US and hoping for IUI on Sunday. I have been really sick since Friday 102 fever and a horrible cough, so I finally went in on Monday and I have Bronchitis, a Sinus Infection and the gross viral infection that is going around! I missed work Mon and Tues and went back today and am so exhausted now!
Work is going to suck soon because C put in his 2 weeks on Monday. My life is gonna suck once he leaves. I wish I could go with him!

I had 2 follies - 23mm and 33mm and count was 63 mil and 80% motile - BFFN

2nd Medicated cycle! 3 month post surgery SA

Sunday January 27, 2013
Welp, last month was a bust, but I start Femara again tonight. Take 2 on medicated plus IUI. E has a repeat SA on Feb 15, but IUI will be the week before maybe...
Numbers were good last time so let's hope they are this time as well!
So my period has kind of sucked this month, 3 days of migraines before it even started and then still a dull ache the last couple days. Super emotional.
I am kind of nervous about starting another month of meds that something will go wrong like over-stim or cysts or who knows. But oh well I am off to take my meds! :)
Need to call in the morning to set up my day 14 ultrasound. This time I am going to remember to ask how big the follie is and what my lining is at.

Wednesday February 6, 2013
Tomorrow is my ultrasound so fingers crossed that there is a good follie or two in there and good numbers from E.
I have had major headaches this time again with the Femara so I need to mention that when I go in. They seem to be gone now but I messed up my back. I just can't win!
I feel very crampy and full right now and have been using OPKs like a mad woman to make sure I don't O prior to my appt. they have started to fade in but so far not positive so that is good!
Don't know that E realized my appt is tomorrow so I need to remind him when he gets home that he needs to be ready for Friday!
I was going to bring a cup home for him but we are supposed to get another snow storm so I might not be able to make it there in an hour, so he is going to have to suck it up and go in! I want to take the day off work but have sooo much to do that I might take a half day and bring stuff home with me.

Wednesday March 6, 2013
Wow okay a little behind!
IUI #2 I had 2 mature follies. POst wash was 28 mil and 60% morph.
So looked good again...
BFFFN

He also had his post surgery SA (3 months) and his numbers were better.
                   Before                  After
Count          84 mil                    113 mil
Motility        20%                      40%
Morph          6%                         8%

He had a followup with Dr O today. Waiting for him to get home to hear what was said.
I met with Dr S to discuss future plans after having such bad headaches with the Femara and we decided to try Clomid for 2 cycles and then if needed to do 2 with injects. Before discussing IVF.

1st medicated cycle

Wednesday December 26, 2012
Well at least AF waited until today I guess?!
Onto cycle 18 and our first medicated cycle. Guess E needs to be filled in on the plan for this month since he may or not need to go in the morning of the IUI. (I know it probably sounds like I don't tell him anything but I do tell him, he is so forgetful and obviously I didn't know when this cycle would start!)
I start taking Femara on Friday for 5 days and on day 14 I go have an ultrasound and get triggered if everything looks good! IUI would be the next day.
Bur for now I am curled up with bad cramps and a heating pad watching it snow. I need to call and schedule my US, I am hoping and praying it only takes one, but from what I have read first IUIs are usually a bust.
I am glad I worked from home today with the snowstorm that is here now!! :)

Wednesday January 9, 2013
Well cycle 18 IUI #1 is in the books (or in the vag :))
Days 3-7 i took Femara which gave me wicked headaches and hot flashes and made me crabby but oh well.
So day 14 (yesterday) I went for my monitoring US and she said my lining looked good, I had nothing on the left and one really big follie on the right. I forgot to ask for the measurements.
They gave me a shot of Ovidrel which triggers ovulation. I was pretty crampy all last night, so I assume I was ovulating?!
E went in at 750 to make his deposit! and at 920 I got there. Was taken back and verified that the sample was mine (his). Prewash motile 54mil, post wash 34 mil 70% motile, she said they look for anything over 10 mil so that was really good and better than presurgery!
I got to lay back and have the catheter put in and it all took less than 5 minutes. I got to lay in the darkened room for 10 minutes and I was on my way to work!
I have been crampy all day which they told me was normal. So 14 days from trigger i can test, but I am testing out my trigger shot so I saw my first EVER positive test today, it was so odd and I am hoping for one in 14 days!

Moving forward maybe???

Wednesday November 21, 2012
I met with Dr B today. He was an Ass... I honestly almost walked out on him.
He was an older gentleman from it sounded like russia or something.
He looked at my chart with my blood tests on it and said he had no idea why I was even there.
He told me that the reason I was not getting pregnant was that I was grossly obese. And that if I lost 50-60 pounds that I would get pregnant. And just sat there and stared at me.

Then he pulled up the MRI of my brain. That was cool to see. He looked at the small adenoma and said it was nothing why were we worried about it. He saw no reason for anyone to be concerned about any of my blood work or test results and that I should stop the synthroid and cabergoline and lose wait and get pregnant.

There was more but I tuned out at some point because after an hour in the room with that man I was over it. I hope I NEVER have to see him again.

I am overweight I am not going to deny it. I am 5'7" and am 212. I am not morbidly obese like he made me feel. I work out a lot and do not eat horrible so I don't know what to do.

Friday December 7, 2012
Well not much has been happening this week. We both went to the Dr. E is still a litlte sore and we have both been sick.
I did my 5day Zpak to get better but we both still have an annoying cough.
Tuesday morning I had my followup with Dr S. She looked at my charts since starting the Cabergoline and said things looked better with my ovulation and was satisfied with my appt with Dr B and him saying all was good. But was mad that he told me to stop all my meds and made sure that I hadn't done that.

Then she was talking about E's surgery and how it would be 3 months after he would have another SA to see if things improved and then after that we could discuss options, that would be MARCH.
I am sure I had a look on my face because then she said unless you would like to do something sooner.
So I said that I would like to try to start sooner rather than later based on our ages etc. Shockingly she said No Problem!!!
Since I was on CD8 there was nothing we could do for this cycle which I guess is okay. He is still sore and we are sick. But we decided that after this cycle Days 3-7 of next cycle I will be on Femara to help grow some healthier eggs. She picked Femara based on my history with hormone related headaches thinking Clomid would give me more trouble with those. CD14 I would go in for an ultrasound to see how the egg follicles look. If they look good and are a good size they would give me a trigger shot in the office and the next morning we would go in for an IUI!
She has me down for 2 cycles of that beofre I meet with her again to review how things were going and if I was responding to the Femara.
So E had his followup and they told him things looked good and in another MONTH the swelling should be gone, and the tenderness should be mostly gone. In Feb he goes for another SA and there should be improvement, but the numbers will slowly improve until then so it could happen this month if he feels up to it. But so far this month it is the same as always with just a 7dpo blood draw for me to check my progesterone to see how I am ovulating on my own. Business as usual

My numbers look better, he has surgery....

Monday October 1, 2012
Finally I got a call from Jenni with good news!! really did that happen!
I had my prolactin drawn last week and it is down to 1! I am to keep taking the meds until I see the other Dr.
E's Dr finally called and scheduled his surgery for Nov 13th.
Maybe sometime in 2013 we will both be fixed enough for this to happen.

Saturday October 20, 2012
This month I appeared to O way early compared to normal (Day 16!)
That was a shock, we had just gotten home from camping and got either O-1 and O or O and O+1 because I didn't temp while camping and forgot to take a few OPKs. but holy temp rise again this month! Been very crampy, pully pressurey and back achy for the last few days. So I am very sure that my period is coming, but of course I caved today 10dpo and tested, super negative. I am feeling very very negative today, not helped by having to go to a baby shower tomorrow. I just feel like it is never going to happen (I keep saying that)
Of course E mentions something related to his surgery at my moms today and she got all nosy and I told her she didn't need to know and she looked all offended. Well too bad. E seemed a little shocked but I am not ready to go there. I am sure he has told his folks and just hasn't told me.
ARGH so feel like crying right now.

Tuesday November 20, 2012
E had his surgery last week. Dr said all went well and was standard surgery with no surprises. So that is good news. It was bilateral varioceles (both sides) We were at the surgery center at 7am and they took him back at 8 and it was 1 or later when the Dr finally came to talk to me. He seemed pretty nice, I liked him.
E has been very very swollen and sore since but went back to work yesterday and has taken no pain pills since Sunday night. His followup is Dec 5th, I am going to see if he wants me to go or not. 3 months for new swimmers to be produced but don't know if there is any effect on existing. Good questions!
My appt with Dr B is tomorrow. I am nervous that somthing is wrong and we will have to wait months before starting treatments with Dr S.
But at the same time I am optimistic that there is nothing wrong and I can schedule w/Dr S right away.
I just don't know if she will make us wait because of the surgery or not.
So frustrating right now I am about to give up and say oh well we tried and if it is going to happen it will happen on its own. But the other side of me wants to be as aggressive as possible to get it done. We have been in a holding pattern since July while we got everything else fixed up. Let's get this show on the road!

Getting so frustrating. AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (prolactin drama continues)

Wednesday September 5, 2012
I think I am going to stop answering calls from the U. It is always Jenni from Dr S's office with news that something isn't right and it is getting old.
I cried the whole way home from work today. She was calling with the results of the blood work I had done last week. My Insulin Growth Factor (or something) and other levels were low (but no explanation of what that means) But that Dr S would do no further treatments (like anything had happened) until after I saw a specialist at the pituitary clinic. Oh and was I okay with that? To which I responded "I guess I kind of have to be don't I?" she just chuckled and agreed.
At the time it was all such a shock and I said okay and jotted down the number but now have follow up questions. Luckily I was leaving soon after for a hair cut and on my way I called the specialist to make my appointment. Um Yeah the first F-ing available appointment is Nov 21. Mother F-ing November ARE YOU KIDDING ME? that is total bullshit I can't see Dr S again until after the end of F-ing November?
Tomorrow I am calling Jenni and asking her to mail my results, and to ask that for sure I can't come until after this appoinment? Am I still supposed to take the cabergoline and get my prolactin checked again?
Oh yeah and the cabergoline does not like me. At least I think that is what it is, it is the only new thing and I am so sick to my stomach and constipated it is not even funny. I hope this goes away soon!
Obviously I can't sleep with all this shit on the brain and have not told E yet the latest news.
Going to also have to ask him to stop bringing up kids and rubbing my belly etc this weekend when we see his family like he likes to do. I just can't deal

Thursday September 13, 2012
Tuesday I finally got a hold of one of the nurses to ask my questions. He is the ONLY dr in the practice that I can see because he is the specialist. I still need to go for the 4 week blood work and stay on whatever Dr S put me on. Grown on the glad affects lots of hormones and I need to get those regulated before Dr S starts messing with all of my other hormones.
So probably won't be back to Dr S until Dec or Jan depending on what the specialist needs to adjust. Still have not told E what is up, I should do that but I needed it all to sink in. and I need to call Dr B again and see if a different office he is at has better availability for me to see him and also I have not gotten my new patient packet yet.
I did good working out so far this week, after walking Mackinaw this weekend I went to Pilates on Tuesday and am so sore from that and I also biked 4.5 miles yesterday!

Tuesday September 18, 2012
I have felt like I NEED to test since last night. I am only 9dpo today so it is way early anyway. I would like to wait until this weekend to see if I am late. We will see if I make it to the weekend. My face is all broken out and I feel gross but that can mean anything.

Thursday September 20, 2012
All I want to do today is cry. I am so depressed. I am pretty sure AF will be here soon, despite a very nice chart (a good O big difference) I think I am out. I caved and took a test yesterday in the afternoon and it was negative. Don't even know why I got my hopes up. I guess 1 good thing is E has his Dr appt Monday so at least we have plenty of time to get him squared away before my appt in November. I think at lunch I am going to sit in my car and cry, maybe then I will feel better.

Monday September 24, 2012
Today was 15dpo so even thought I thought AF was coming I decided to test again. It was negative and not even 2 hours later i started spotting and massive cramps.
E is at his appt this morning, he was texting me while he was waiting and they were running super late. Hopefully he gets out with an okay prognosis and that nothing major is going on with him. But with the way things are going something will be wrong :(
.................And I was right.
He needs to have surgery. Son of a bitch. He called after he left and his bloodflow is wacky which is making things too warm and killing sperm. So I did some googling and it is a Variocele or something like that. So he is waiting for them to call and schedule his surgery. I Guess it is pretty common and the Uro said there is a 70% success rate after 2-3 months. So if he gets in soon maybe that would line up with when all my stuff gets straightened out.
This is never going to happen for us.
Every single test but one has had bad results... UGH.
